Four the Girls was Established in 2008. With having 3 grandgirls already, We were seeing way to many duplicate pink Barbie accessories and furniture. This is where I began to play around with wood and creating simple Barbie sized furniture. With each piece my interest and love began to grow as did the girls want list and the girls! Soon I had 4 granddaughters.
The pieces wasn't perfect at first, not to shabby though for a beginner. With each piece I learned how to join the wood and how to secure it better. I began researching and learning how to put techniques together for each piece. Wood furniture was easier, Chairs and upholstery not so...lol When it came to adding the fabric to the wood I got stumped. It took me awhile to figure out how to make it all smooth and in ONE piece. Lots more research and experimenting got me to my very own Wingback chair design. I practiced many cabriole legs cut till I also had those down pat!
I decided to try eBay out and see if I could sell my stuff. This is where I learned there was a whole world out there beyond Barbie! So much eye candy in the way of fashion dolls and their clothing...I was in awe of it all! How do you go from a $15 Barbie to $150 fashion doll? I was like ut oh. But I managed to buy a doll here and there to help in my quest to make furniture for these gorgeous dolls. On eBay, I met a wonderful woman (Lynda) who fueled my journey of furniture making by buying pieces from me, sending me a beautiful Elllowyne doll and lots of clothing. Then she introduced me to a web page that was just for dolls! Soon I was meeting lots of other women on Facebook that belonged to doll groups, then I started joining the doll groups. Today, I have discovered so many wonderful friends across the globe. I now have my own Facebook page for my chairs and soon this website.
Over the years I have bought many more tools and have made lots of interesting and nice things as gifts aside from the doll furniture. I continue to research, practice and try new things. I am looking forward to meeting more people and help them get furniture that is sometimes elusive!
